MITRE reference S1198
Gomir probes arbitrary network endpoints for TCP connectivity.3
Gomir will configure a crontab for process execution to start the backdoor on reboot if it is not initially running under group 0 privileges.4
Gomir reads command line arguments and parses them for functionality when executed from a Linux shell, and can execute arbitrary strings passed to it as shell commands.5
Gomir checks the effective group ID of its process when initially executed to determine if it is in group 0, denoting superuser privileges in Linux environments.6
Gomir deletes its original executable and terminates its original process after creating a systemd service.7
Standing S1198
Reach is how much of ATT&CK this tool touches. Coverage is how well defended each thing it does is, as a median per technique rather than a total — a total would just restate the reach. Each figure is ranked against all 825 ATT&CK software entries only where that population actually spreads. Where most of the population shares one value, a percentile would rank the tie instead of the entity, so the raw value is shown and no rank is claimed.
Reach
61st percentile · 61% of 825 ATT&CK software entries have this many Enterprise techniques or fewer.
53rd percentile · 53% of 825 ATT&CK software entries have this many tactics spanned or fewer.
61% of the population shares a single value across only 22 distinct values, so a percentile here would rank the tie, not the entity.
85% of the population shares a single value across only 8 distinct values, so a percentile here would rank the tie, not the entity.
Coverage
68th percentile · 68% of 825 ATT&CK software entries have this many detection rules per technique or fewer.
Detection coverage S1198
323 distinct rules cover the 14 techniques recorded for this tool. The 339 technique-to-rule mappings resolve to 323 distinct rules, because one rule can cover several techniques. 202 Sigma · 121 Splunk.
