FRP, which stands for Fast Reverse Proxy, is an openly available tool that is capable of exposing a server located behind a firewall or Network Address Translation (NAT) to the Internet. FRP can support multiple protocols including TCP, UDP, and HTTP(S) and has been abused by threat actors to proxy command and control communications.[1][2][3][4]
Enterprise ATT&CK only. Any Mobile or ICS rows on the same ATT&CK page are not carried.
MITRE reference S1144
FRP can use a dashboard and U/I to display the status of connections from the FRP client and server.6
FRP has the ability to use HTTP and HTTPS to enable the forwarding of requests for internal services via domain name.8
FRP can proxy communications through a server in public IP space to local servers located behind a NAT or firewall.9
The FRP client can be configured to connect to the server through a proxy.10
Standing S1144
Reach is how much of ATT&CK this tool touches. Coverage is how well defended each thing it does is, as a median per technique rather than a total — a total would just restate the reach. Each figure is ranked against all 825 ATT&CK software entries only where that population actually spreads. Where most of the population shares one value, a percentile would rank the tie instead of the entity, so the raw value is shown and no rank is claimed.
Reach
47th percentile · 53% of 825 ATT&CK software entries have more Enterprise techniques.
21st percentile · 79% of 825 ATT&CK software entries have more tactics spanned.
61% of the population shares a single value across only 22 distinct values, so a percentile here would rank the tie, not the entity.
85% of the population shares a single value across only 8 distinct values, so a percentile here would rank the tie, not the entity.
Coverage
56th percentile · 56% of 825 ATT&CK software entries have this many detection rules per technique or fewer.
Detection coverage S1144
201 distinct rules cover the 10 techniques recorded for this tool. The 221 technique-to-rule mappings resolve to 201 distinct rules, because one rule can cover several techniques. 142 Sigma · 59 Splunk.
